I read somewhere that he has a clause in his contract about conduct detrimental to the team regarding a suspension. Meaning if they just cut him and not pay what they owe-he'll file a grievance and maybe win. This way they keep him then cut him after the season as per the clause then they then have more ammo to fight the grievance. Which tells me that there probably is a cap hit so may as well swallow one but not the other. Kinda looks like trying to avoid another Rout situation. Maybe they want to keep the kid. I think with the right attitude he has potential. I was not disappointed with his rookie season or last season up until the gun thing.
