Who are going to blame, Al Davis??

Who are we going to blame?? It's sure not Al Davis (RIP). It's time for The Oakland Raiders to start an overhaul from Top to Bottom.

The philosophy of bringing in retreads is part of the past. This whole organization is at fault. The Offensive Coordinater (Knapp) is a 2 time retread. The O-line can't block for the QB (Palmer) to throw the ball or open a hole for one of the best RB in the NFL (DMC) to run. The Defense is pathetic, starting with Seymour & Kelly; No real LB and an anemic Secondary. Oh, and what special teams??!! If it wasn't for Sebass and Lechler we have no Special team.
This team has some true gems that we can built on if we can keep them and not trade or let them go via (FA).

It's time to hire the right Scouts, Coaches, Players, Front Office Personnel if they want to keep the best fans in the NFL. I'm tired of defending my beloved "Raiders". How about you??

Boycutt future games.

How can anyone justifty paying for a ticket to see today's Raiders play? We should boycott until we get some real coaches here, with history of winning games. I mean we had a great running game just last year. It is now none existant. Out receivers were getting better. The D needed more discipline, but it had some potential. Not we look like the rejects of the NFL and things are only getting worse. I am so done with this. I can't even justify watching this team on TV for a couple hours. Just horrible and humiliating to watch. Do these players have any pride? Do these coaches know at all how to coach? When you get a coaching job at this level, it's not so you can learn how to coach. Go coach some high school. Sad!!!!
New roster

Who on the current roster will be in Oakland next year? A prime example of what is on the Raider roster right now and not being good enough....Stanford Routt. All the Al Davis guys, cried like babies when Routt was let go, saying it was a big mistake, Wimbley too, Bush isn't doing much in Chicago. Routt isn't being picked up, could be out of the NFL and he was thought of as one of the better Raider players last year.
I have a feeling this will be a story for most of the castoffs, coming at the end of the season.

Its gonna take time

Before the season, CSN California Raiders reporter Paul Gutierrez (aka one of D83's famous "my sources") referred to the Raiders as "an expansion franchise". Its becoming very evident he was correct. I dont think the Jags and Panthers were this low on talent when they came into the league, and they sure had more draft picks and cap room than we do. Its going to take a few years to find out if Reggie can improve the roster enough to make us consistently competitive against the upper echelon of the NFL and relevant in the AFC West.

While I believe we have some nice pieces on offense in Palmer, Veldheer, Wiz, McFadden, Reece, Myers, Moore, DHB, Streater and Criner. Half of them will probably be gone (retired or on another team) before we get there, and currently are being completely wasted behind an o-line that cant block in the ZBS.

The defense? What a mess. Outside of Burris and Wheeler, Houston and MAYBE Branch, Shaughnessy and Huff.....noone else is safe. This must be where the rebuild begins, with the o-line being next. The list of needed upgrades on D include McClain, both corners and DT's, and SS.

Thinking on it more, we could be worse off than a typical expansion franchise. An expansion franchise gets to start fresh while we have this recent culture of losing that seems to be so difficult to overcome for these guys.

All that being said, here is how I would go about rebuilding this team if I were Reggie.

1. Trade Mcfadden. The guy is injury prone, and mis-used in the ZBS but is money when healthy and used right. Someone will give a package of picks for the guy just on potential (Jerry Jones?).

2. Find a pair of MLB's and a big DT and switch to the 3-4. I definitely see this as a strong possibility with Reggie and DA's background. Its possible that McClain can become a better player in the 3-4, but sometimes you just cant polish a turd.

3. Sign a veteran WR to mentor our core of young and promising WR's.

4. Find a center and RT and move Wiz back to LG. Cut Willie Smith. If the ZBS is what we are going to continue to run in the future then more moves are needed along the line.

5. Sign at least one good CB. I am not against the idea of leaving Huff at CB, he has played better there than he ever did at safety. My personal preference would be to leave him there and find a new safety to replace Giordano.

Those moves are a great start IMO. Lets bring in winners, not just bodies. It is my belief Reggie knew this season was a lost season, and next season probably will be too. Its going to take time to not only address the MANY needs of our roster but to also find a way to get rid of the losing culture and mentality that has permeated this once great franchise.
I want my money back.

That Baltimore trip sucked. Aside from the beautiful weather and the best crab cake sandwich I ever had, it was spoiled by my beloved RAIDERS.

97 points in 2 weeks! WOW!

That fake field goal was heart wrenching. Been to many RAIDER games and have had to knuckle my way out of most stadiums, but never been laughed out of one before. I had Raven fans buying beers and rubbing my shoulders. It was embarrassing as all get out!

I don't know how you evaluate the talent on this team when the team is so clearly unprepared for the game.

The blitz that start from 15 yards back was the worse thing I ever saw. Flacco was releasing the ball before the SS got to the line of scrimmage.

Our DBs are lost out there. Let me tell you the score could have been worse. Flacco had receivers open all over the field with our DBs and Safeties not knowing who to cover. That is coaching.

This coaching staff needs to be replaced. Every last one of them is a joke.

Rice had an 8 yard TD run in which he walked the last 3 steps into the goal. Not a break away, just 8 yards.

Their punter had TD run!!!! Coaching?????

I totally get the fact that it takes talent to win the NFL, but we need coaching first and it's poor coaching that causes 97 points in 2 weeks.

Carson Palmer looks much taller on TV. Couldn't believe he is only 4'7" in person. That was amazingly disgusting to see.

True fact that changing coaches year in year out is a bad deal. RAIDER fans know that better than anyone. But this staff could not be doing a worse job.
The real question is

It has been asked "who on this roster would be a star on another team?" I'd like to change that to "Who will still be starting on THIS roster next year? I'm talking the 22 starters and kickers only. My take:

Offense

QB Palmer- Yes
RB McFadden- Probably
FB Reece- Yes
WR Moore- Yes
DHB- No
TE Myers: Yes. Been a big surprise.
LT Veldheer: Yes
LG Carlisle: will make team, wont start.
C Wiz- Yes
RG Brisiel- No
RT Barnes- No

Defense

DE Shaughnessy- Probably
DT Seymour- No
DT Kelly- No
DE Houston- Yes
LB Burris- Yes
LB McCain- No, may even be cut
LB Wheeler- Yes
CB Bartell- Probably
CB Huff- Will go back to SS
FS Branch- Yes
SS Giordano- No, cut

Kickers

K Jano- Yes
P Lechler- No

Thats 8 new starters next year, maybe 9 if McFadden is moved. 5 on the lines. I think DHB is still on the team, and see's plenty of action, but wont be a starter. Brisiel and Carlisle will be backups. Theres a reason Marquette King was put on IR instead of cut, Lechler wont be back. I expect even more moves to the bottom of the roster.

Does anyone have a link to the NFL Salary Cap numbers by team? Interested in what our cap situation may be after the season.
WOW

I am a die hard Raider fan and switched the channel. That was an embarassing showing. Here is my take on it:

Coaching-part of the problem (Knapp)

Players-the problem

IMO, the players have a lack of intellegence.

The players look dumbfounded out there in defense. Really? That's not coaching. That is a lack of ability to learn the defense on the players part. The same defense was bad last year. Remember?

Put Pryor in the starting lineup. I'm still not excited about Palmer starting at QB. He throws too many intercepts.

Where the heck is the run game? Oh yeah, Palmer threw it 61 times a few weeks ago. They need to establish a run game.

Give the new d-coordinator a chance.

McKenzie has some work to do within the organization and the players.

coaching sucks

Specia;l teams - Hoffman - this guy was a reject and raider's pick him up. Terrible coaching on special teams - killiing the raiders.
KNAPP....KNAPP= 7 pts against the saints...7 points. Is that the best Knapp could do ??????????????????????????????????????
Terrible playcalling . this saints defense is average . Where's the running game ?????? Knapp where is the running game playcalling. You have to have balance you can't shift all the burden on Carson.
Same with MYers and reece . you need to run the ball.
raider's should have played alot better. but there coachins sucks.
Chip off the old block?????????

“I’m patient, but I want to see progress. Not regression,” Davis said. “I’m embarrassed, pissed, disappointed and I take full responsibility.”

Could mark pull the trigger on Reggie/Allen .....or force Reggie to hire a qualified HC all I can say is it was real nice to see chucky at the stadium today all decked out in raider gear .... I assume he wasn't just on vacation ...maybe an invite from mark/Amy

Let the speculation begin

Would the Allen supporters be willing to dump him if chucky returns?
100% COACHING!!!!!!

135 points in 3 weeks. COACHING !!!

The Siants have the worse D in THE HISTORY OF FOOTBALL and we can't move the ball. COACHING !!!!

No accountability at all!!! COACHING !!!!

No hussel, No fight, No respect for the shield, No respect for themselves! COACHING !!!!!

Is Tamps loaded with more talent than us? NO!!! Are they better? WAY!!!!

Dennis Allen SUCKS!!!! He doesn't need anymore time. He will never ever be a head coach in the NFL ever after he is let go.

We can't even begin to judge the players with coaching this bad.

Guys talking smack when their team is down by 20 plus. COACHING !!!!

Giving up TD runs to Punters. COACHING !!!!!

Seeing the Ravens asshole coach and Saint plays openenly laughing at how bad the RAIDERS are. Did you see that?

When your team can't score or even
I've the ball against the NFL's worst D in history IT CAN ONLY BE COACHING !!!!!!!

I have seen enough!
They have contracts?

This is not exactly a ringing endorsement of the GM or the coaching staff. The owner says what some of us here have been saying all along. "I thought we could make the playoffs" He didn't say super bowl. In other words it's about winning games. This crew either doesn't want to win games or they don't know how. What is Davis taking full responsibility for- bringing these guys in? Anyway like some of us have been saying it's the regression that's the problem oh and he didn't put all of the blame on the players either. So for those of you who like to quote Hue Jackson (you know who you are) for support of you myopic arguments- starting to look like even the owner is a "whacked out Raider fan"- but only because he appears to want win! It just doesn't look like these guys can get it done- but "they have contracts so they'll be here."
